It is the practice of moving the clock ahead during the warmer months to make better use of the longer daylight hours and back by one hour in autumn. On March 9th the clock springs forward at 2am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This time can be tricky for your little one, and you! &nbsp;When we lose an hour of sleep, it can throw off your baby\u2019s internal clock which can make bedtime and mornings feel a little off. The good news is, with some simple adjustments, you can help your infant or toddler transition smoothly through this process to have peaceful naps and nights. &nbsp;For babies who are more sensitive to routine and their schedule, a gradual adjustment to springing forward is recommended to allow their internal clock to adjust with little disruption. &nbsp;Here\u2019s how we do that!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Four Days Before the Time Change<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Shift bedtime and naps 15 minutes earlier, if nap time was at 9am move it to 8:45am.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Three Days Before<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Move everything another 15 minutes earlier, If nap time was at 8:45am move it to 8:30am.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two Days Before<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Adjust bedtime and naps another 15 minutes earlier. If nap time was at 8:30am move it to 8:15am<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One Day Before<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Move bedtime and naps 15 minutes earlier again. If nap time was at 8:15am move it to 8am.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now your little one is already on the new schedule!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For other peaceful sleep tips for smoother transition of nights and naps, we suggest getting out into the sunshine in the morning to embrace the natural sunlight that helps to regulate your babies melatonin and reset their internal clock. &nbsp;Do your best to stick to their nap and bedtime routines (feed, bath, Pajamas, read, noise machine and crib) in order for them to find comfort and peace in the consistency of their routine.
